“Gaze” is part of the Imprint collection, capturing a moment of equine presence as a horse gazes into the distance with absolute stillness and intensity. Created using bas relief technique with humble earth materials—sand, clay, jute, pigments and wood—this 92cm x 73cm x 3.7cm piece holds the gesture of my hand while preserving this moment of pure awareness. Rendered in black, the work strips away all distraction to reveal the horse’s form. This dimensional piece transforms a witnessed moment of equine mindfulness into a tangible imprint of the horse’s characteristic ability to be absolutely present in the moment and intensely aware of their surroundings, creating a bridge between the observer and the observed.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
